Let’s face it
Your TV is the centerpiece of your man cave. Whether it's for watching the big game, bingeing your favorite action movies, or dominating in Call of Duty, it’s a vital part of the experience.
But what about when you’re not actively watching something? Instead of letting your screen sit dark, why not turn it into a badass digital picture frame, displaying your favorite rides, dream cars, or whatever fuels your passion?
With an Amazon Fire Stick, you can easily set up a custom screensaver to showcase a slideshow of your personal photos. I’ve loaded up mine with epic shots of classic muscle—Challengers, Chargers, old-school Blazers—so when I’m kicking back in the cave, I’ve got a rotating display of automotive perfection adding to the vibe. Here’s how you can do the same.
Step 1: Upload Your Photos to Amazon Photos
Your Fire Stick pulls screensaver images from Amazon Photos, so the first step is getting your pictures into the system.
Download Amazon Photos – Grab the app on your phone or PC (it’s free if you have an Amazon account, and unlimited if you have Prime). I used my PC so I could control which photos I uploaded.
Upload Your Pics – Select your best shots—whether it’s your car collection, vacation pics, or even funny memes—and upload them to Amazon Photos.
PRO TIP: Create a separate folder for the phots you want on your screen saver so you don’t have to upload ALL of you photos.
Organize Albums – For a cleaner slideshow, create a dedicated album for your man cave photos.
Step 2: Access Screensaver Settings on Fire Stick
Now that your photos are stored in Amazon Photos, it’s time to set up the screensaver.
Go to Settings – On your Fire Stick home screen, navigate to Settings (the gear icon at the far right).
Select Display & Sounds – From there, choose Screensaver settings.
Choose Your Photos – Select Amazon Photos as the source, then pick the album you just created.
Adjust Slideshow Settings – You can tweak:
Speed (slow, medium, fast)
Style (pan and zoom, dissolve, etc.)
Start Time (how long before it kicks in— 5, 10, 15 minutes, etc.)
Step 3: Sit Back and Enjoy
Once everything is set, your Fire Stick will cycle through your photos whenever the screen saver kicks in. This adds a cool, personal touch to your man cave, giving it a rotating display of whatever fuels your passion—whether that’s muscle cars, hunting trophies, scenic landscapes, or just pics of you and the boys having a great time.
Pro tip: If you’re hosting a party or game night, swap out the album for something themed—like your best tailgating memories or legendary game-day moments.
Keeping the screensaver turned on continuously using a Fire Stick can be a bit tricky because the device is designed to go into sleep mode after a certain period of inactivity. However, here are a few ways to keep your screensaver running for as long as possible:
Method 1: Extend the Screensaver Timeout
Go to Fire Stick Settings – From the home screen, navigate to Settings (gear icon).
Select Display & Sounds – Scroll over and click on it.
Choose Screensaver – Here, you’ll find options to configure your screensaver.
Adjust Start Time – Set the screensaver to activate after the shortest possible time (e.g., 5 minutes).
Adjust Sleep Mode – Look for a Sleep Timer or Power Saving settings and set them to a longer duration.
Method 2: Prevent Fire Stick from Going to Sleep
Fire Sticks are designed to enter sleep mode after a certain period of inactivity. You can prevent this by:
Using an App – Apps like Keep Screen On can prevent your Fire Stick from sleeping.
Using ADB Commands (Advanced Users) – If you're comfortable with developer settings, you can use an ADB command to stop the Fire Stick from sleeping:
Enable Developer Options by going to Settings > My Fire TV > Developer Options.
On a PC, use ADB (Android Debug Bridge) to send this command:
shell
CopyEdit
adb shell settings put secure sleep_timeout 0
This prevents the device from entering sleep mode.
Method 3: Use a Video Loop or Slideshow App
If the Fire Stick forces sleep despite your screensaver settings, you can use an app like Plex, Amazon Photos, or Photo Gallery to create a looping slideshow that functions similarly to a screensaver.
Download a Slideshow App – Install Amazon Photos, Plex, or another media player that supports looping.
Create a Slideshow Album – Upload and organize your photos in an album.
Start the Slideshow – Open the album and start playing the slideshow on a loop.
I found using Amazon photos and playing a slide show the easiest way to do this.
Final Thoughts
A custom screensaver is one of those small touches that takes your man cave to the next level. It’s simple to set up, totally free, and makes your TV a part of the ambiance even when you’re not using it. Give it a shot—you might just find yourself staring at the slideshow more than the actual TV!

Reacher Edition – The Ultimate Action Binge
If you love bone-crunching action, no-nonsense justice, and a hero who doesn’t just walk into trouble but bulldozes through it, then this week’s Plex Picks is for you. With Reacher Season 3 dropped yesterday (Feb 20th) on Amazon Prime, there’s no better time to dive into one of the best action franchises out there. Whether you’re a longtime fan of the Lee Child novels, the hit Amazon Prime series, or just a sucker for a good action flick, here’s your ultimate Reacher-inspired watchlist.
Reacher (Free Amazon Prime Series)
Season 1 (2022) – The introduction to Jack Reacher (played by Alan Ritchson) blew audiences away with its brutal fights, sharp wit, and faithful adaptation of the book Killing Floor. Reacher gets caught up in a murder case in a small town and, as expected, leaves a pile of bad guys in his wake.
Season 2 (2023) – Adapted from Bad Luck and Trouble, this season sees Reacher reunite with his old military unit when members start turning up dead. More intense action, bigger stakes, and that same unbreakable Reacher attitude.
Season 3 (2024 - New! ) – Just released (Feb 20th)! This season is based on Persuader and promises even more explosive action, tactical takedowns, and that signature Reacher badassery. Time to grab the popcorn and settle in!
Movies for Reacher Fans
While Alan Ritchson has cemented himself as the ultimate live-action Reacher, there are a few other films that deliver the same hard-hitting, rogue-justice action. If you’re in the mood for more brutal takedowns and one-man-army storytelling, check these out:
Jack Reacher (2012) – Tom Cruise takes on the role of Reacher in this thriller based on One Shot. While he doesn’t have the towering frame of the book’s Reacher, the movie still delivers intense action, sharp dialogue, and a solid mystery.
Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (2016) – Reacher returns, uncovering a military conspiracy while protecting a young girl who may or may not be his daughter. More hand-to-hand combat, military intrigue, and a fast-paced story.
Final Verdict: Reacher Season 3 is Here—Time to Binge!
With Season 3 now live, there’s no excuse not to dive into the world of Jack Reacher. Whether you’re watching the series for the first time, rewatching the previous seasons, or supplementing it with other hard-hitting action films, this week’s Plex Picks has got you covered.
So, grab your snacks, dim the lights, and get ready for a masterclass in justice—Reacher style.
