🧊 Featured Man Cave of the Week: The Incredible Ice man Cave
Derek Parker’s Ice Cave
Derek Parker, from Brossard, decided to put his own twist on the man cave by building an igloo-inspired living room in his backyard. He made 586 ice blocks by freezing water in plastic buckets and using slush as grout.
After over 100 hours of hard work, he created the ultimate chill spot, complete with a TV, a Habs jersey, built in LED lights and a fully stocked ice bar.
Despite the freezing temperatures, he created this Icy Cave to host the coolest Super Bowl party in town, where every drink is guaranteed to be served on the rocks.

😎 DIY Corner: DIY AC (Heat pump) For The man Cave
Man Cave AC
As the summer heat continues to blaze, many of you are likely finding your man cave sanctuaries turning into saunas.
I've seen numerous discussions online, especially on platforms like Facebook, about finding the perfect solution to keep our man caves cool and comfortable.
Enter the ductless mini-split system—a versatile unit that offers both heating and cooling, making it an excellent addition for year-round comfort.
Why Choose a Mini-Split System? The mini-split system stands out for several reasons:
Dual Functionality: It provides both heating and cooling, making it ideal for all seasons.
Energy Efficiency: These units are designed to be energy-efficient, helping you save on utility bills.
DIY Installation: Perhaps the most appealing feature for many of us is the DIY model available. This unit is straightforward to install, even for the average DIYer.
DIY Installation – A Real Game Changer
One of the biggest deterrents to installing air conditioning in a man cave has always been the cost and complexity of installation. However, the DIY models of mini-split systems are changing the game. Here’s why:
Pre-Charged Lines: Many units come with pre-charged refrigerant lines, meaning you don’t need specialized HVAC tools or training.
Comprehensive Guides: Detailed installation manuals and online tutorials are readily available, guiding you through each step of the process.
Minimal Tools Required: Basic tools like a drill, screwdriver, and level are typically all you need to get the job done.
Installation Tips To ensure a smooth installation process, here are a few tips:
Choose the Right Location: Ensure you have a sturdy exterior wall for mounting the outdoor unit. Inside, pick a spot that allows for optimal air circulation.
Follow Instructions Carefully: While the installation is designed to be DIY-friendly, it’s crucial to follow the instructions carefully to avoid any mishaps.
Test the Unit: Once installed, run the unit through its paces to make sure it’s operating correctly in both heating and cooling modes.
The Benefits of a Climate-Controlled Man Cave
Adding air conditioning (and heating) to your man cave can significantly enhance your comfort and enjoyment. Whether you're gaming, watching sports, or simply unwinding, a climate-controlled environment makes a world of difference. Plus, it’s a great selling point should you ever decide to sell your home.

🍺 Man Cave Essentials: The Corona Sunrise
Corona Sunrise
A Corona Sunrise is a fun twist on the classic Tequila Sunrise, served directly in a beer bottle. I had one at a beach cantina in Mexico back in the early 1990’s. Though it’s not a new invention, its popularity soared after going viral on TikTok.
How to make a Corona Sunrise (super easy)
Open a Corona and drink to the top of the label
Pour in the Tequila
Pour in the Orange Juice
Add the Grenadine
Insert the Slice of lime into the top of the bottle
Place your thumb over the top, turn upside down and back upright
Enjoy!
Stay hydrated !
🎥 Man Cave Entertainment Picks: Heatwave movies
When the temperatures soar, cool down with some movies that capture the essence of heat while keeping you entertained.
Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995) - Directed by John McTiernan, the third installment in the "Die Hard" series takes place during a hot summer in New York City. The heat contributes to the tension as John McClane and his new partner race against time to stop a bomb threat.
The Terminator (1984) - Directed by James Cameron, while not explicitly set in a heatwave, the film's apocalyptic and relentless atmosphere feels oppressively hot, reflecting the harsh environment of a future where machines are at war with humanity.
The Last Boy Scout (1991) - Directed by Tony Scott, this action-packed film involves a private detective and a former Secret Service agent trying to solve a murder amid a backdrop of scorching heat.
A Heatwave (2020) - This action-thriller, set in a fictional urban heatwave, follows a cop who is forced to team up with an ex-con to unravel a conspiracy while dealing with the deadly effects of the extreme heat.
Escape from L.A. (1996) - Directed by John Carpenter, though not explicitly a heatwave, the film's setting in a dystopian Los Angeles contributes to a hot, harsh environment that adds to the film’s gritty, action-filled narrative.
Cheers!
